Happy Spring. Hopefully it will finally take hold and get the vines moving as we are behind by 10 days about now. I am sure that we are all noticing the effects from mother natures slow return of spring in our gardens. We also have some frost damage of about 30% in our cherries and we hope the minus temperatures stay away so we have some of those big cherries to harvest this year. The great news is that I am done pruning now (yesterday) and can think about getting some Voluptuous 05 into the hands of our private wine buyers in Vancouver. We have had alot of trips to the coast this year for events. Our last one was for the Round House spring release. What alot of fun! The Viognier was the buzz of the room and the 05 Voluptuous was being praised by all. We were paired up with Kettle Valley Winery and the delicious food was prepared by The Pacific Goldfish. We have also done a “Wino Wednesday” at the Rotten Grape in Kelowna. Rita and Tasha did sample pairings with all the different wines and a good time was had by all. Theo’s in Penticton has ask us to pour at the restaurant May the 7th, and enjoy some of their exellent food, (the salmon filo I hope).

All of the girls are great and keeping us very busy. Olivia is 10 months old now and full of beans. We haven’t had alot of time to fix and update the web site but with the help of my sisters Margaret and Diana, they put us on to a computer god. Thanks so much Ken! Now it’s our job to keep you in the loop. Well its been in the process for many months now, even years but here is my first post to our new and improved website.

As you can see by the photo our new baby girl Olivia has delayed this project but the delay was hugely worth it. Coffee break has become an hour and lunch even more. By the time 4pm rolls around I’m 2 hours behind but I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Olivia and Tammi are both doing wonderfully and I am still smiles from ear to ear. Olivia has been super busy as you can see in the photo, here she is picking Pinot Gris with Mama. She has also been involved at the winery during pressings and punchdowns, and has travelled to and from Vancouver many times, even by plane once already for an event.

Harvest went extremely well except for a shortage of Merlot as we had some winter damage from last year. We had a superb growing season and with low tonnage per acre, the quality of the fruit is outstanding. We still need to use the press one more time for the Cabernet Franc as it is still fermenting. All the other wine is now safe in tank and barrel with some malolactic fermentations going on except for the Pinot Gris.

Right now we are settling in for winter as the frost sinks into the ground. We did some remeidial soil work on our Boothe Rd property, I just got all the skins and stems spaded into the ground before it became unpenatrateable. Now is a time for catching up on paperwork and finish our kitchen renovation (2 years in the process with the hip injury) before starting to prune cherries.

Now to wine. Our 05 Vivacious and Vino Grigio is basically sold out with only a few cases left and we have released our 06’s which are a big hit again. We will release our second vintage of Viognier on Dec 1st, just in time for Christmas and will be coming to Vancouver for tastings and deliveries during the Viognier release. The pallet of 04 Voluptuous is dwindling down rapidly and hopefully, fingers crossed, it will last until we release the 05 Voluptuous April 1st 2008.

Well I am sure you want to snoop around the site for a bit so I will keep this short. Then you can snuggle up in a cozy blanket with a nice red, hopefully Voluptuous, and settle in for a long winters nap.
